=== Tutorial: ===

To start with, VPN is the app that will be your Android location changer. While VPNs can do more than just that, as you will find out a bit later, for now I will only focus on the tutorial.

First step here is actually getting one of the best Android VPN options. There are many of them, but I will use NordVPN here, and you will see why soon enough.

To get a VPN, open up Google Play and search NordVPN. The app is free to install and it takes a couple of seconds to download.

Second step is getting in: VPNs often require a subscription, but NordVPN has a 7-day trial for Android users, so you can use it to try things out. But since this trial is short, I’ve put some exclusive NordVPN discounts in the description, just click the link!

Once you are in, step three is underway: choose a server you need and connect. This is the actual location changing - for instance, if I want to watch BBC iPlayer content like a true British person, I will connect to the UK server. Yeah, you can do that, with a VPN geo-restrictions might not exist at all.

After your connection is established, it’s done: your online activity is now sent through the server in the other country, effectively changing your location.

=== Why use a VPN for Android ===

I’m personally using NordVPN to change my location for streaming content that’s usually inaccessible for me. NordVPN actually can access Netflix, Hulu, Disney+ and many other platforms, I do it quite often!

VPN is also useful for many mobile games that are released locally, and since the mobile gaming market is literally the biggest one right now, it makes sense to take advantage of that!

Personally, I also like to buy stuff online and some services really like to adjust prices based on your location. But with a VPN, I can look for the best price, even when buying a plane ticket!

I wouldn’t recommend a VPN purely for entertainment though, it also encrypts your connection and hides your activity from your ISP. This is important, as sometimes ISP will throttle your internet speeds, especially if you torrent or stream a lot.

=== VPN Recommendation ===

I’ve spoken a lot about NordVPN, but I don’t want you to think it’s the only VPN that allows you to fake location.

Android users will find NordVPN quite reliable though, it can be used on 6 devices at the same time and has robust security standards. But Surfshark, for instance, is amongst the best Android VPN options as well.

It provides a comparable level of security and speeds and most importantly has a robust Android app. This app contains all the features you need, including a unique feature no other VPN has: GPS spoofing. This feature allows you to get a fake GPS location on top of changing your online location with a VPN, which is especially useful if you need Pokemon GO spoofing, or something similar.

But if you are not satisfied with Surfshark, maybe you will like AtlasVPN better.

I really like this one on Android, as it was built for mobile devices specifically, and works the best on them. I also found it pretty decent in terms of security. As for performance, there are two options: a free version with just 3 servers and lower speeds, or premium with way more of both. In general, AtlasVPN is amongst the best free VPN for Android, but this free version is too limited if you need streaming or a lot of servers. On the other hand, the premium option is cheap enough to get.
